2024-25 FAFSA Update

The 2024-25 FAFSA is needed for current students who will be attending summer 2024 and for new students starting fall 2024.  The U.S. Department of Education has made major, substantive changes to the FAFSA and to the process, which is why this year the FAFSA, new software and processes are later than usual.  It is probable that applicants and their families will experience some confusion and discomfort by the dramatically changed form and process.

Scheduled, Estimated Timeline  (these estimated dates could change, hopefully sooner)

  1. The 2024-25 FAFSA is currently available
  2. The new Federal software used to receive and process FAFSAs is estimated to be available by about March 15, 2024 (maybe sooner)
  3. SFI will be able to start seeing the results of FAFSAs starting about March 18, 2024 (maybe sooner)
  4. The estimated date for SFI financial aid offer letters to start being sent to students is about March 31, 2024 (maybe sooner, as possible)
