Digital Video Classes Fundamentals of Digital Video Production DVP-A: Spring, 1 Weekend, April 25 - 27, 2008 Fundamentals of Digital Video Production gives you everything you need to know to get going in the world of digital video production in one weekend. Here's a chance to learn about all the individual aspects of the format. This intensive workshop covers the fundamentals of digital video camera operation, location sound recording, lighting, shooting both interiors and exteriors, and post-production editing. We'll start you out shooting right away, then on Sunday we'll put all the components together as the class composes and edits a short video project. If you have a digital video camera, please bring it to the workshop (optional). Maximum class size is 12.
Editing with Final Cut Pro FCP-A: Saturday, Feb.9, 2008 8am-5pm Instructor: Krk Nordenstrom
The Creative Side of Editing For Digital Video and Film CSE-A: Saturday, June 28, 2008 10am-4pm This intensive one-day seminar concentrates on The Creative Side of Editing. Whether you're editing digital video or film, you'll want to have a solid understanding of editing theory under your belt . You'll learn how to edit dialogue, how to cut to music and how to use sound effects and voice-over. We'll look at documentary film and the particular challenges that arise when you're working with both visual material and on-camera interviews. We'll analyze clips from ads, music videos, and feature films, including dialogue and action scenes. We'll also spotlight the following questions: What makes a good edit? What makes a good structure for a piece? How do you even decide where to make your first edit? And last but not least, how do you know when you're done? Take this seminar by itself or combine it with Editing with Final Cut Pro.
The Art of Foley Recording AFR-A: Saturday, April 19, 2008 8am-5pm Whether it's the shattering of a huge plate glass window or the creeping of slippers across a wooden floor that we take for granted when we watch a film, the reality is that someone has actually created those sound effects. On films and television shows, even sounds that are originally recorded on the set are totally recreated and enhanced by a Foley artist. THE ART OF FOLEY RECORDING, taught by Doug Reed, a long-time Los Angeles Foley artist, provides an overview of the Foley process culminating an in-class Foley re-creation of a well-known scene from a feature-length movie. Class participants will be able to apply what they've learned to their own projects and bring their work to a whole new level.
