The prospect of working long, tiring hours, but being able to see at the end the creation I've constructed with my crew is something well worth the work for me. Whether it's documentary or fiction, you feel as though you're giving birth to something.
You feel proud for how far your film has come, you've prepared it; done the best you can for it, and now it's time to send it off into the world to be judged and criticized.

40 Week Total Immersion Filmmaking Program

SFI students set up a 16mm film shoot.SFI students set up a 16mm film shoot. In this program students live, eat, and breathe filmmaking. You'll learn the creative & technical aspects of filmmaking, develop the skills to be an independent filmmaker, and gain the hands-on experience shooting real film and HD Video to work in the film industry. Once done, students can participate in our industry internship program.

The 40 Week Full-time Filmmaking Program provides a comprehensive and integrated hands-on overview of the filmmaking process. The program requires a time commitment of at least 40 hours per week. Students are in class and hands-on labs for 4 hours a day, 5 days a week for 10 months. Additionally, students should expect to spend at least 1 hour outside of class for every hour of class time working on assignments and productions. Each of the program's 4 classes - Elements of Filmmaking, Tools of Production, Film History, and Screenwriting - meets once every week. In addition, students also participate in Production Labs throughout the program.
