About Seattle and the Pacific Northwest
Seattle is a great city with a robust and talented independent film community. It is also surrounded by natural beauty and provides many opportunities for outdoor activities including skiing, hiking, and water sports.
Easy day trips include, Vancouver, Canada, to the north -- gateway to skiing and other natural adventures; west to the majestic rain forest of the Olympic Peninsula; East to hiking and skiing in the Cascade mountains (and beyond to Washington's wine country); and south to volcanic Mount St. Helens and Portland, Oregon.
Many residents enjoy the relaxed and natural atmosphere and the wide variety of choices in music, theater, cultural events, and professional sports.
SFI is located in the vibrant Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle just north of the downtown core. Movie theaters, Restaraunts, Music venues, Coffee Shops, Museums, Live theater and more are all within walking distance of the school. There is a great deal of housing in the area, from shared rooms in classic old homes to modern apartment buildings. Click here for more info on housing in Seattle.
