How to Make Movies will give you all the tools you need to plan a production--be it a short film or an independent feature. Learn all about scheduling and budgets; learn how to work with the Screen Actors Guild; how to license music for your movie; how to get permits and insurance, and perhaps most important--how to make your film affordable. This class also covers the technical side of filmmaking--cameras, lighting, and editing systems--from the independent producer's standpoint. You'll learn how to plan for pre-production, survive production, be in control of post-production, and finally how to successfully market your films.

When a scene doesn't work in a film, you lose the audience. Making the Scene Work gives you the tools you need to communicate with your actors in a way that produces results. Learn how to break down a scene so that it is useful to you and your cast. In addition, we'll analyze scenes to discover their strongest and weakest points. We'll also study blocking and shot selection while our emphasis on acting will help you understand a scene from the actor's point of view.
