Program Summary:
The Seattle Film Institute is nationally recognized for its hands-on classes. Students develop both their technical filmmaking skills and equally important, their personal artistic vision. We limit enrollment to ensure that all students receive individual attention and that every student has direct responsibility for all aspects of film production including directing, cinematography, lighting, sound, and editing.

The weekly schedule includes the following classes:
Tools of Production
Elements of Filmmaking

Lab Day

Certificates, Portfolio Reel, and Internships
Upon graduation, students receive a Certificate of Completion and a DVD of their work as a record of their accomplishments and to demonstrate their ability to employers. They may also opt to participate in our industry internship program. Graduates have worked on camera crews in Los Angeles, in post-production facilities in Seattle, as line producers, in film labs, and on documentary productions.

From Script to Screen: The Meg Richman Story
Meg Richman directed and wrote the screenplay for her first feature, “Under Heaven,” which garnered critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival. “The one and only screenwriting class I ever took was from the Seattle Film Institute. From the script I wrote in class, I got an agent and began my professional career.”
