Heard On The Lot:

I would sacrifice everything, except the body parts I need, to create films, but my wife understandably won't take it that far, even though she is supportive.

— Michael Twombly

Tuition & Scholarships

Tuition is based on the number of credits in each individual program.  This is a 52 credit degree and the cost per credit at SFI is $600, so full tuition for the MM degree is $31,200.00  Generous scholarship support and financial aid is available to students who are accepted to the program.

A large portion of this tuition is earmarked for the live recording sessions, which are a cornerstone of the program, to ensure that graduates have high quality, professional sounding demo reels. This portfolio of work will be the student‘s main promotional tool in being considered for professional work in the industry. In fact over 20% of the tuition goes directly to cover the cost of the recording studios and musicians - more than any other program of this type.

Another financial consideration in comparing programs is that this is the only one year Masters in Film Composition offered in the US -- students attending this program realize a savings of an entire year of living expenses.

The only additional expenses students should plan on - books, conducting baton and an external hard drive - should total $350.00 - $500.00
