Certificate and BA Program Overview
Choose Your Path
SFI offers Certificates and a BA in Film with concentrations in the following areas:
B.A. in Film
The BA degree (180 credits) is divided into two parts: 90 general education and elective credits and 90 credits from SFI¹s program. Students who come to SFI with an Associate of Arts Transfer Degree (or its equivalent) earn a BA in Film from SFI immediately upon completion of SFI¹s program.
(In partnership between SFI and Central Washington University the Acting for Film concentration is also available as a BA Degree from CWU.)
Students who start their post-secondary education at SFI or who have not completed the 90 credits outlined above, or who already have a BA degree receive a certificate from Seattle Film Institute upon successful completion of the program. This certificate recognizes and acknowledges that the student has earned 90 college-level credits at Seattle Film Institute.
Upside-Down BA Degree Pathway
Students who wish to continue their education after receiving the certificate can finish the remaining 90 general education credits and electives required for the BA degree at the accredited community college, college, or university of their choice (either on-campus or online).
Upon completion of these 90 credits, students receive a BA in Film from SFI. This innovative pathway is known as an upside-down degree because students start with their major before taking other required general education classes.
